Insurance & Program Coverage

Helping you navigate insurance

Insurance can be one of the most confusing parts of medical weight management. At WellTeenMD, families aren’t left to navigate it on their own.

🛡️

Physician visits are billed through insurance

Physician visits are billed through your health insurance, separate from the WellTeenMD program fee. Our physicians participate with most commercial insurance plans and select HMO plans.

There is no predetermined number of physician visits and no time limit on care. Patients can continue to see their WellTeenMD physician as often and for as long as medically appropriate.

Most commercial plans Select HMO plans

Coverage varies by individual plan and may be subject to copays, deductibles, network requirements, referrals, or other plan requirements.

HMO plans: if you have an HMO, your plan must authorize care specifically with our physicians — a general specialist referral isn’t enough, and this is a step many families don’t realize is required. Call us and our staff will help you request the right authorization.

Five nutritional counseling visits are included

Your first five individual visits with a nutritionist or registered dietitian are included in the $1,500 WellTeenMD program fee, regardless of insurance coverage.

If you’d like additional nutrition support after those five visits, continued dietitian appointments are available to WellTeenMD patients at a discounted rate.

We help with GLP-1 insurance coverage

Getting insurance coverage for GLP-1 and other weight-management medications can be complicated. We don’t leave families to figure it out on their own. When your physician prescribes a medication, our staff works with your insurance plan to pursue coverage when available. This may include:

When insurance doesn’t cover a prescribed medication, or when out-of-pocket costs remain high, we’ll also help identify manufacturer savings programs, coupons, or other legitimate discounted options when available and when the patient is eligible.

While we cannot guarantee that an insurance company will approve a particular medication or that a savings program will be available, we will help you navigate the process rather than leaving you to manage it alone.

Medication & other medical costs

Prescription medications, laboratory testing, imaging, and other outside medical services are not included in the WellTeenMD program fee. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by insurance plan, medication, and individual circumstances. Manufacturer savings programs also have their own eligibility requirements and may change over time.
